Gaahl's coming out was a little too fabulous and not enough evolutionary radical fuck you!

When Gaahl (former front vocals of Black Metal band Gorgoroth) came out of his Norwegian Black Metal Log Cabin/Shack; I really thought, mmm... maybe this guy is radical, maybe he has some type of Nietzschean love of man as a representation of the ultimate achievement? Maybe he chooses a life with masculine partner that oozes evolved intellectual consciousness? All of these things I guess I would have opted for if I were to come out of any closet of whatever description but no, I was surprised to find that Gaahl found himself a lovely nancy-boy who bore the mark of young fresh twink fanshionista. Remarkable in its own guise - as everyone rightly is; but I guess my personal fantasy of the exceptional man who has transcended the sexes by loving his mirror image that is beyond himself is left dry.

Sure, each to his/her/its own, I have no authority on anything, but this is just a stupid blog with nothing else going for it so I can speak my mind if I like.

Okay, Gaahl aside (his name mention was really only a marker on the road, not the point of discussion in mention); what I envision in terms of an interdynamic relationship a species can have with itself (essentially as a mark of heightened intelligence and the probability of crazy radical evolution) is that gender explodes not into an obsolete but beyond its dualistic distinctions. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly appreciate an embrace of primal surge that recognises the wild in oneself and further more the ground-breaking ability to hone such wilderness as a intuitive sharpening of the reason and intellect. What I argue against is an insistence of maintaining a loud voice about what we are and what we are not.

These days, with the gradual desensitising of gender differences, us so called homo sapiens sapiens still bear a mark of stupidity; namely "he or she belongs to that group" (not less found in the minority groups too). Really, there can no longer be space for such diversive delineations if we expect to consider ourselves an intelligent species!

I myself have a very long way to go (many lifetimes still I reckon); but I am bored with the common nativities of using gender language to communicate signs and inclinations; on the flipside, I cannot deny the deep stirrings I have for a curves and soft impressionable touch (my taste differs on various occasions - regarding whatever the suitable season is), but equally I can only remark to the blushing lips of a pouting fluttering women: "Oh, that's cute" and be on my way.

All of this said, what I do recognise in terms of attraction is the inclination toward an intuitive intelligence, meaning that the person in question is more or less balanced in Being. Motivated balance stirs the falling of stars, crackling of night skies, fire from the gods, etc. A humanity that aspires beyond itself is a significant gesture, one that I promote - not in any New Age politic, but one that is thoroughly engaged in itself to work diligently towards its own awakening, out of a self-perpetuated pit of ignorance.

Reclaiming the Queer and Rainbow Flag for Wizards of the World

It is in my opinion that the use of the term 'QUEER' as well as the convenient Rainbow Flag by the LGBTQIA community is an ingenious snag which may have been appropriated far earlier by the community of wizards if there ever was such an openly preposterous idea as a wizard community. The thing is the wizards of the world have more than often opted to remain behind closed doors and inside their private quarters where  no suspecting 'straight' eyes can see them at work.

What must us wizards do now concerning the rather abhorrent claim of narratives that have long been used as a means to depart from mainstream society - let us call it, the appropriated mainstream language that is merely used to syndicate within mainstream discourses. For the wizard, reality exists on the dynamic of fluctuation... where everything is dreamlike and transcient, the wizard is a master of insight into the illusions of reality; i.e. the wizards eyes are tuned on the infinite tangents of melting duality.

So, it is no wonder a wizard is conventionally seen as eccentric, strange, or commonly known as Queer. This is more than a mere gender variation, it is an existential designation - of course, by principle, a wizard in nature is no longer designatable, hence consequently queer by nature. I understand why the segregated sexes feel the need for a distinguishable term that sets them aside from the mainstream, and I have no problem with sharing a term, not to mention a pretty flag, only problem is, the ridiculous human insistence for categories and taxonomies does not even allow me, a simple wizard, the space to belong somewhere - as I am none of the formal letters in LGBTQIA. This pleases me nonetheless, as I am avoidant of such convenient slip-ins... all I ask is to refer to my ways as Queer without having to call myself Gay, or Gender Blender nonesense.

Okay, so I am not really arguing against the Gender communities, I rather want to state that there is an unrepresented world of weird and wonderful that itself does not even fall within a minority discourse. Us wizards are all a little queer, in that no one can quite place their finger on what we are exactly - I do not think we can even do that ourselves... and I shudder to think anyone thinking that we (wizards) do not belong to this planet! on the contrary, the spontaneous, radical, crazy wise and cool, are fully emerged in this planet - long having escaped the confines of straight and square.

As for the Rainbow Flag, no problem, the LGBTQIA can keep it, we will simply put a spin on the design, add a few waves and we have a more accurate representation of something already quite fantastic. Really, if one could manage a flag comprised of crystal light refractions translated by the magnificent naked eye then we would have something quite spectacular. It would certainly represent something more than a community who relate to their sexual peculiarity and the wants and needs to stick it to the mainstream man and his oppressive discourses or whatever approach is to be taken.

All very exciting nonetheless; in fact I pose that wizards both belong and do not belong, we are both friends to all and invisible, in fact, it does not really matter, I will go about and use radical terms freely without exception... argue against it you want, that is fine, I will probably not fight but will maintain queer for most part.

RELIGIOSOPHY! CONTRA RELIGIOLOGY BEYOND RELIGION/RELIGIOUS STUDY

Somebody needs to discuss the sensitive issue of Religion/Religious Studies in the world today.

I do not know if I am that somebody but it has been on my mind for years now so I will put whatever is on my mind out there.

First of all I wish to state that I never quite understood and came to terms with the underlying principle of Religion Studies. This may seem like a lame proposal on my part but what I mean is that the Study of Religion is still a relatively new subject in the field of academia but seems to have a confused basis/foundation.

Much of Religion/Religious Studies throughout the world has its basis in Theology and the outside perspectives of notable theorists from various other fields (psychologists, philosophers, economists, sociologists etc.). There are not many Religion/Religious Study professionals with substantial independence of their own.

Then there is the problem of the name: Religion / Religious Studies. Some institutes prefer either one or the other but surely it is time to evolve this subject into an academic subject that may even regard some respect some day? This is why I propose the title: Religiosophy.

I may be jumping the gun a bit with a title such as this but does it not already sound much more substantial than Religion / Religious Studies? With 'Religiosophy' my interpretation would be 'the reflection of wisdom' or the 'wisdom of reflection'. This interpretation is open for change.

I jumped a step after the term 'Religiology' and straight to Religiosophy with the intention of presenting the Study of Religion more than a mere 'study' but an active engagement as an involved philosopher of the sacred.

I saw a gap in the market of Religion /Religious Studies and that is the lack of active occupation in the field. Why Study Religion? It is merely an academic subject that promotes more academic research? This saddens me because I am not a solely academic creature (haunting the night libraries like a werewolf of speciality).

Further I wish to state that Religiosophy must superimpose all Theology institutes within universities within the near future. I am not challenging the goodwill of Theology just the intellectual importance of it within the academia. If a university hosts a faculty of Theology is it not then promoting a solely monotheistic reverence? Surely the 21st century university has entered a combined nature of secularism and pluralism? I would like to think so. With the advent of a Religiosophy contra Theology would propose an active academic approach to the study of religion, the religious, and religiosity from a 'scientific' perspective. This scientific perspective is more the perspective of promoting a seeking for the truth which benefits the world and its inhabitants equally.

This is also why I promote a Religiosophy contra Religiology as stepping into the future of developing wizards of religious wisdom that is both credible in the world of science and the mystery of the mind and mysticism.

Within Theology a person can study to become a Pastor, Missionary, Missiologist, Pastoral Counselor, Old Testament Expert, New Testament Expert, or a Theologian. What can a Religion / Religious Studies student become? Well, a Religion / Religious Studies student simply becomes a Religion / Religious Studies scholar.

With an adoption of a Religiosophy the student firstly has the option of becoming a Religiosophist (i.e. a wizard of sacred wisdom). The I propose that the student can shape his / her interest and enter a variety of occupations such as a Pilgrimage Travel Journalist, a Psychonautic Shaman, a Sacred Vision Artist, a Neurophysics Yogi, a Cyber Intelligence Meditator and so forth... you see where I am going with this? It is a bit out there but I wish to express the freedom possible in such a field.

Well, think about it... this is potentially the academic study and occupational vocation of the future.

A Rise and Call of the Shamanic

The rise of shamanic elements in the world today is equally a growth of shamanic 'calling' (vocation).

It seems that latent shamans / mages / sages / magickians / wizards / witches / crones / druids / bards / ovates / tantrikas / yogis and so forth are coming out of the wood-work (the hypothetical cosmic closet).

No doubt, this 'shamanic' initiate is as old as MAN, it is simply an observation of the time that compels me to make this statement (both in compliment to my own stirrings and what is witnessed around the world).

In South Africa we are finding more and more white South Africans turning to the traditional shamanistic beliefs (the Sangomas and the Inyangas).

My own spiritual background is with Buddhism and remains so but I am finding my path adopting more traditional and magickal means (of service).

I am currently training under the Grey School of Wizardry as an Apprentice Wizard and consider this on par with the old traditional shaman 'schools'. To be a Wizard is certainly to be one who is responsible for keeping the wisdom of the world alive and protected.

The 'calling' seems to be very specific, for example: even though I live in South Africa and have a great appreciation for the Sangomas and Inyangas of the various tribes and traditions I have not had strong calling to any of these yet; but I do have a strong ancestral karma with the Celtic / Scandinavian / Germanic traditions.

The post of Wizard is also open to the variety available but (as my Buddhist teachers note) it is imperative to maintain your chosen practice and keep it so.

What is the rise of the shaman all about? This is what I am asking here, not to present an answer but maybe to stimulate a thought. With the coming of great paradigm change come the custodians of the mind and world to keep the peace and clean the mess.

The shaman has always been an 'in-betweener' and an adept in the patterns of reality. There is no difference between the shaman and the wizard to me, but I would say that the wizard is a shaman and more.

I hesitate to refer to this blog as 'A Rise and Call of the Wizard' because the patterns in the world show a greater leaning to the traditional shamanic post. In time the Wizard will can-can out the elaborate wardrobe.

Where conventional science draws more towards theories of infinite chance and probability the shaman steps back into the spotlight; because these are the province of magick and the deep mind.

This is all talk but certain ideas take certain appearances and if we were to credit early Greek philosophers, or later German and French philosophers with a certain heritage of magick as wizards of the time then many will consider this silly madness (which is should be - a wizard should never be boisterous about his/her role).

Well, if you are reading this and something feels familiar to you or that voice gets a bit louder then maybe you have what it takes to be the local shaman - but know, this is no easy path and indeed requires much sacrifice, commitment and responsibility.

I wish you well on your journey!

Mandala Magick

Greetings Friends and Family

This following presentation is an example of a meditative ritual
that involves generating virtuous merit for the manifestion
of magick both towards the world, the people around me
and towards myself.

Albethere several mishaps and odd little errors within the ritual
I felt it necessary to show the video as it happended.
As there is much to learn from the small mistakes
and flow of chaos that is found in such practices
(which seems pleasantly appropriate).

I start the practice by circumnavigating the mandala then
acknowledging the Mandala and the shrine with prostrations.

From here I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha then
call upon the guru.
After centering and grounding myself I offer the mandala
(by using semi-precious stones and a mandala set).

The practice continues with chanting and sitting meditation
afterwhich I destroy the mandala and dedicate the merit to
each and every sentient being.

Just as I have started with the practice I ended the practice
in the same but in reverse by prostrating and circumnavigating
the mandala in counter direction.

Here the practice has ended as I leave the room.

Thank you for viewing.

Airplanes, Lost Balloons, and Static Rainbow Augurgies

For some time I have been looking at the sky with a prying eye.

It is not often that we see occurrences of the rare kind such as lost balloons floating in the open sky or a glimpse of a glistening rainbow not to mention a daylight meteor; these days airplanes are quite often seen in the sky but still we look up as they tend to draw our attention - I mean, people flying up high in the air?! Still an amazing thought!

Each one of these appearances and many other certainly have their divinatory significance.

You can look at different colours of lost balloons floating about and give them significance even though there may be no significance at all - it really is just a balloon sending off on its way - but I believe the underlying reality of it is in your own awareness opening up and being reminded of something, ex. preciousness of life or impermanence or something.

All of these things: airplanes, balloons, meteors, rainbows etc. are, in my opinion, augurgies of your enlightened wake-up call. How regularly are we stuck with our noses in the stale air around us? Sniffing up our own and other peoples farts?!

Looking up to the sky is a reminder of our insignificance and immediacy in a much greater space. To see a single balloon (or collection of balloons) floating in the far distance of a very large sky can be a recollection of one's own very lonely path in life (even though you may have tons of support and friendship you are always on your own path).

Snap out of it! that is why we have these things to drew our attention back to the greater picture; i.e. this is why we have the ability to recognise the vast space of our minds...

Boy Scout White, Brown, Green... Magick

Hail to our Sovereign Lord the Grand Master 77 Degree B.P.
Blessed be his right hand The Architect, his left hand The Scribe
Blessed be his right foot The General, his left foot The Mason
Blessed be his head The Pyramid, his base The Pedo
Blessed be, Baden Powell, Baden Powell,
Baden Powell, Baden Powell,
Baden Powell, Baden Powell...

I gest! But it is not too far from the truth.

(*Vajra Phurba Shunyata* Shunyata Shanti Shanti Shanti*)

The Boy Scouts are rich with ceremonial proceedings; one could easily recognize possible Masonic elements within the usual Boy Scout evening. Saying that, one can actually see such strange ceremony in most military uniforms.

This is not a rant about Boy Scouts but rather a call to awakening; an awakening into the Magick of Boy Scout practice.

I am forever grateful for the skills I learnt as a Boy Scout, especially now as I enter into the realm of magick; I remember such traits as knot-craft, survival skills, social rapport, respect and authoritative responsibility, first-hand experience with the elements, emergency ingenuity and so forth.

The Boy Scouts take their practice seriously, it is no easy feat to accomplish some tasks set out towards the fulfillment of the Scout goal - to be of complete service.

Indeed, the Boy Scout tradition is ultimately a preparation of the young individual for the obstacles of life - even though there are actual obstacles in Boy Scout training, these reflect quickly as useful traits in the fluctuating obstacle course of life.

Okay, I will admit, I found many of the little quaint intricacies of Boy Scouting foolish and wimpish, i.e. much of the pomp and circumstance is really just that - plenty of bells and whistles to keep old poofs giddy.

My request is to keep the Boy Scouts hard edged and humored. I guess it has a lot to do with the Scout troop I grew up with. My superiors did not take any shit from snot-nosed little rants, we were taught the hard way to face our obstacles... I will not go into detail here. I will say this, we were told 'War Stories' that were horrifying enough to give young boys 'Bomb Shock'.

This is something they do not tell in the Scouts (as I am sure they themselves do not even know), that we were being schooled in old magick. Learning formal rituals, advancing up ranks and hierachies, practicing various gestures (left hand shake right hand salute), tying intricate knots, and wearing a unique set of insignia through various achievements.

The Boy Scouts, one could say, is right up there with the Freemasons, the Lions, the Round Table as lovely social charitable groups for aging men (except that for the factor of the members being young boys) but they do share a common ground in their ritual proceedings. The Boy Scouts also share a rich history of ceremony wielded in ancient proceedings.

I am curious as to what magick I had opened myself towards in the Boy Scouts; I will continue to reflect on this.

Preparing the Heath Wreath for the Decemeber Feasts

Materials used: Pine wood and twine.

This is my first attempt at making a wreath and it already defies the conventional idea of the typical round wreath. Sure, in my mind I had the idea of a dream-catcher, but in this instant the wreath receives guests but also send them along with a warmth of homeliness and merrydom.

Further materials: Wool, Pine Needles, Holly leaves and Pine Cones.

The colour of the wool used is: green, red, burgandy, white and black. Webbed together they unite several elements of jolly, joy, good health, purity and others for the new season and year.
The wreath was finished off with a wool webbing and the nodes were bound to lock energy.

This wreath is to welcome the joy and peace of the festive season, it will be placed or hung near the front door of the house to welcome guests with a feeling of prosperity and safety.

I recommend you try making your own wreath some time - it is good fun! I have the great benefit of having a Pine Tree in the back garden from which most of my material comes from.

So mote it be!

A Varja Doha from the likes of Chuck Shuldiner

Empty Words

Ashes and promises share a bond
Through the winds of change
Words are blown away
When visions that should be
Are tattooed in your mind
The power to let go
Is sometimes hard to find

The answer cannot be found
In the writing of others
Or the words of a trained mind
In a precious world of memories
We find ourselves confined

Claws so razor sharp
Ripping at the spirit

[Chorus:]
Promises a potential to hurt
Is anything real?
When forever is to be until
Deep inside, in the world of empty words...
No escaping from those haunting
empty words...

[Solo: Schuldiner]

Do you ever feel it?
A craving that is so strong
To by thought rewind in order to find

Expectations that shined through the doubt
That soon would turn into the price
Of what a word will be worth
When tomorrow comes
To be and we are left
Standing on our own-
And seeing what is real...

The answer cannot be found
In the writing of others
Or the words of a trained mind
In a precious world of memories
We find ourselves confined

Claws so razor sharp
Ripping at the spirit

[Repeat chorus]

http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/death/symbolic.html#3

I remember listening to Death as a young boy and feeling the strange surge of intellectual power run through my veins. After years of admiring this rare and precious musical collective, I have come to think of Chuck Shuldiner's lyrics as something of a mystic litany.

I do not know anything about the life of Chuck Shuldiner and I do not believe that is of importance at this stage of the discourse but it is the ringing of his genuis that remains with me. Indeed, is it the author or the author's product that one should venerate and revere?

I find that this is true with several select metal acts.
The first one I wish to pay homage to is Death.

As a Vajra Doha, mmm... this needs reflection/meditation;
but working from the mere title of this song I would say that Shuldiner had some bent-up mysticism
laying inside of him bursting out.
In my opinion, an empty word does not necessarily refer to words that are worthless; but rather that they are not bound to any conditional context and compound.
An empty word is Speech of Indestructible Precision that demands respect and attuned awareness.
Indeed, there are very few who can truly hear the cracking thunder of a great truth spoken.

My request is then that we should exert ourselves to listen attentively to the 'Empty Words' sung all around us; and more so to those who devise ingenious methods of precision auditory transmission.

What does it all mean or does this remain ineffable jabber-blab?

Indeed, it is an area of discussion that cannot be easily discussed other than in the utmost expression of a true inner art; a perfect example being that of the great realized meditation masters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songs_of_realization); look up Vajra Doha. These songs of enlightenment are spontaneous A Capella rich with illuminated wisdom awareness.

Not much can be said about this; especially from me so I wish you the fortune of getting direct transmission of such a treasure and mostly from a treasured being.

As for Chuck Shuldiner and his 'Empty Words', I feel this is more of the arousing of mystic poetry which we all carry to some extent and takes some diligent reflection and meditative discipline to unlock (the opening of ones inner ears - OERKANAL).

The intricacy and delicate nature of the style and composition of Death and Shuldiner's music certainly awakens a raw philosophical tradition.

New Year Near the End Year Post

Well, well, it has been a while;
but every turning mile
is a dripping smile.

My recent involvement with the Grey School of Wizardry,
has prompted my return to the dire darkness and equally luminous emptiness
of blogging.

This blog initiates from ________ challenge to blog Magick.

I accept this challenge as the blog really been all about magick in whatever sense it has manifested,
albeit, utter nonsense in my attempts; eitherway a toast to Magick it is and Magick as the manifesting means of MetaMind and MetaMatter and MetaMyst.

Warm initiations,
Warm incantations,
Welcome salutations,
Welcome supplications,
So mote it be,
Three by three by three,
To Infinity
